What minifying does
Minifying removes the spaces, tabs and line breaks between JSON tokens. The data stays exactly the same: keys, values, key order, number formats and string escapes are untouched, and whitespace inside strings is kept. Large numbers like 12345678901234567890 are never rounded.
Smaller JSON means faster API responses, smaller payloads in queues and caches, and less storage. Invalid JSON isn't minified: you'll see the error with its line and column instead.

Is my JSON uploaded?
No. Minifying happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
Is minified JSON still valid?
Yes. Whitespace between tokens is optional in JSON, so any JSON parser reads minified output the same way.
How much smaller will my file be?
It depends on how it was formatted. Pretty-printed JSON with 2-space indentation typically shrinks by 15–40%. Already compact JSON won't change much. If you also enable gzip or Brotli on your server, the transfer size drops much further.
How do I make minified JSON readable again?
