How to use the Markdown Previewer

Supported syntax

Standard Markdown plus GitHub Flavored Markdown: tables, task lists (- [x]), strikethrough (~~text~~), fenced code blocks with a language, and autolinks. Safe inline HTML such as <details>, <sub> and <kbd> works too.

Safe by default

No script injection. The output is sanitized with DOMPurify: scripts, event handlers like onerror, javascript: links, iframes, forms and inline styles are removed. It's safe to preview Markdown from anywhere, like a README from an unfamiliar repository.
No tracking pixels. Remote images are blocked until you choose to load them, because every remote image tells its host your IP address and when you opened the document.
Links open safely. External links open in a new tab with rel="noopener noreferrer".

Frequently asked questions

Is my document uploaded?

No. Rendering happens entirely in your browser. Nothing you write is sent anywhere or stored.

Is the downloaded HTML safe to publish?

It contains the same sanitized HTML as the preview, with a small built-in stylesheet. Review it as you would any content before publishing.

Why doesn't my image show?

Images from other websites are blocked for privacy. Tick Load remote images. Images embedded as data: URLs always show.
