application.yml

Generate Spring Boot configuration for PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Actuator, HikariCP and more.

How to use the Spring Boot Config Generator

  1. Enter your application's name and base package, then tick the features you use.
  2. Copy application.yml (or the .properties version) into src/main/resources.
  3. Open Dependencies for the starters and drivers to add to your pom.xml or build.gradle.

What the generated config does

  • Environment placeholders: ${DB_URL:jdbc:…} uses the environment variable when set and the local default otherwise, so the same file works on your laptop, in Docker and in Kubernetes. Secrets have empty defaults.
  • Safe defaults: open-in-view off, schema from migrations with ddl-auto: validate, UTC for JDBC times, only health and info exposed on Actuator.
  • Kubernetes-ready: graceful shutdown and liveness/readiness probes at /actuator/health/liveness and /readiness.
  • Profiles: dev turns on debug logging and SQL output; prod writes JSON logs. Activate one with SPRING_PROFILES_ACTIVE=prod.

Frequently asked questions

Which Spring Boot version is this for?

Spring Boot 3.x (Jakarta EE, Java 17+). Virtual threads need Boot 3.2+ on Java 21, and structured logging Boot 3.4+.

Why does Flyway need a second dependency?

Since Flyway 10, support for most databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle) is in a separate module, such as flyway-database-postgresql. Without it Flyway fails with "Unsupported Database".
